Reading - Review of Castle on Viola Street. The vocabulary words for this story as well as some practice tests are on Google Classroom. They can hear the story and practice the vocabulary as well as taking practice tests here. We are working on theme, contractions, and point of view with this story.

We will also continue to work on adding adjective to sentences to make our nouns more descriptive. Please have them to practice this skill as well as writing complete sentences.

Math - We will finish Module 3 the week we come back and hopefully, test on Friday. I had them to go onto Zearn in class and review some of the lessons. If they decide they want more practice while at home, please remind them to add an R to the front of their password.

They have also been going in to FrontRow and Tenmarks. I love the Tenmarks because if they get stumped there videos and hints to help you. We will start a leaderboard when we come back to school in each area. These are 2 great places for extra practice.

Science - The tundra and desert are our last 2 habitats. We will finish these the first week back again. Have the students to make sure they are familiar with producer, decomposer, scavenger, consumer, herbivore, omnivore, and carnivore. These terms have been repeated throughout our habitats unit.

Happy Holidays!!

Thank You Thank You Thank You

First and foremost, let me say thank you for the wonderful gifts that I received this week. I loved each and everyone one of them. From the festive cards to the gifts, your kindness and generosity have truly melted my heart. The class gift was awesome as well and had a gift card from my favorite store, Lerner's. I am truly blessed to be able to work with such wonderful families!! Thank you so much!!

Secondly, I had parents to come and volunteer today to help with the cute holiday craft from the PTO. The students decorated a cupcake to make it look like a penguin. They were really cute. Thank you to Mrs. Rasso for organizing everything this afternoon. I need to thank her helpers who came out as well: Mrs. Harris, Mrs. Izzard (Justin's grandmother), Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Johnson, and Mrs. Nagao. The craft was a success and thank you to all of the treat bags that were sent in: Mrs. Amerson (Madyn's grandmother), Mrs. Harris, Mrs. Linton, and Mrs. Viera. Hopefully, I sent 22 smiling faces home.

Native American Connection - Evan B.

One of our very own, Evan B. had a personal connection to our Native American unit. His uncle was an American Indian born in the Northwest Territory in Canada. Evan's mom still had shoes that belonged to him when he as a little boy. Evan was nice enough to share the shoe with us before we ended our unit. Though he was not born in South Carolina, I felt like the kids couldn't miss out on this authentic experience. His classmates were in awe when they found out. Thanks Evan and Mrs. Brown for sharing a part of your family with us!!
