One of our very own, Evan B. had a personal connection to our Native American unit. His uncle was an American Indian born in the Northwest Territory in Canada. Evan's mom still had shoes that belonged to him when he as a little boy. Evan was nice enough to share the shoe with us before we ended our unit. Though he was not born in South Carolina, I felt like the kids couldn't miss out on this authentic experience. His classmates were in awe when they found out. Thanks Evan and Mrs. Brown for sharing a part of your family with us!!
Piper came home relating the details of seeing these artifacts. It helped her really make a connection to Native Americans. Thank you!
